  • DHC
    Deep Cleansing Oil

    Devan Jesmer

DHC's cleansing oil is a lightweight blend of olive oil, rosemary leaf oil, and vitamin E that completely removes even the most stubborn waterproof makeup, sunscreen, and any dirt or pollution on the skin. Once you add water, it lathers beautifully and rinses clean without leaving any residue.

The oil blend is not pore-clogging, is antioxidant-rich, and has a very faint scent, making this a great cleansing oil for all skin types. If you’re sensitive to rosemary leaf oil, though, you may want to avoid this. It's not only effective but also quite affordable as well!
  • La Roche-Posay
    Hydrating Gentle Cleanser

    Devan Jesmer

In the fall, stripping cleansers such as gel cleansers with actives or foaming cleansers should be swapped for formulas that are a bit more hydrating. This cleanser is perfect for the cooler seasons!

It is a second cleanse that is pH balanced and loaded with beneficial ingredients like glycerin, ceramides, panthenol, and niacinamide. Together, these ingredients work to hydrate, strengthen the skin barrier, soothe, and brighten the skin.

It’s fantastic because it is effective at cleansing, but it also strengthens your skin barrier at the same time. If you live in a warm climate and have very oily skin, this might not be balancing enough, but it should work for most skin types in a cooler climate.
  • Laneige
    Créam Skin Refiner

    Devan Jesmer

Hydration and moisture are the keys to healthy skin in cooler temperatures. As the air gets drier, our skin needs extra help retaining moisture. This Cream Skin Refiner is like a toner, essence, and moisturizer all in one.

You pat this into your skin like you would an essence. Its main ingredients are water, glycerin, and meadowfoam seed oil to moisturize the skin, but it also contains white leaf tea water, which is rich in amino acids and helps strengthen the skin barrier and soothe the skin.

If you have oily skin, then this product might be a bit too moisturizing for your skin. However, it is truly innovative in its ability to moisturize the skin.
  • Purito
    Centella Unscented Serum

    Devan Jesmer

Do you feel that your skin gets more sensitive when the seasons change? Since the temperatures drop and the air gets drier, a hydrating serum is definitely something you should be using in the fall.

The Purito Centella Unscented Serum is not only hydrating, but it's also a true barrier repairing serum. This contains 49% of Centella Extract, which helps with skin recovery and regeneration. It's especially helpful for those with sensitive, acne-prone, and oily skin.

It contains no essential oils or fragrance—just hydrating, soothing, and barrier repairing ingredients (niacinamide, ceramides, humectants, panthenol, a peptide) to strengthen the intercellular lipids that constitute the skin barrier, which prevents breakouts and irritation.
  • Sky Organics
    Rosehip Seed Oil

    Devan Jesmer

Although face oils aren’t necessary for everyone’s routine, they're great for when your skin needs extra moisture. You can use them alone, as the last step of your skincare routine, or mixed into a moisturizer.

Sky Organics Rosehip Seed Oil is 100% pure and cold-pressed, meaning it is never heated and retains its beneficial properties. In addition to its moisturizing properties, rosehip oil is high in vitamin C, which helps fight free radicals. It’s also high in tannins with astringent properties that are great for tightening pores.

Lastly, it’s high in a-Linolenic acid, which is anti-inflammatory, making this a good choice for sensitive and acne-prone skin. However, If you have dry skin, this lightweight oil might not be enough for you and you may find that Marula or Moringa oil are a better fit.
  • Krave Beauty
    Beet the Sun SPF 50+

    Devan Jesmer

Wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, every season, and all year long is an absolute must. Of course, you can switch out products depending on the season, though. For instance, in the fall, a more moisturizing sunscreen would be better.

Krave Beauty’s Beet the Sun is not only moisturizing, but it also has soothing ingredients, as well as additional antioxidant protection via beetroot extract, EGCG (the most active polyphenol), sodium ascorbyl phosphate (vitamin C), and resveratrol, an antioxidant that comes from red grapes.

This sunscreen may be a bit too hydrating for oilier skin types, depending on your climate. But I do recommend using it as a makeup primer, too.
  • CeraVe
    Resurfacing Retinol Serum

    Devan Jesmer

Though you may need some time for your skin to get used to retinol before it can be used effectively and with fewer side effects, the benefits greatly outweigh the negatives. Retinols are known to have properties that help treat acne, even skin tone, and stimulate collagen production.

This Resurfacing Retinol Serum by CeraVe contains encapsulated retinol, making it fantastic for those with sensitive, normal to dry skin, and for those with acne and aging concerns. Encapsulated retinol is surrounded by a protective barrier, which helps it to penetrate the skin while mitigating any potential side effects.

It also contains ceramides to support the skin barrier, as well as niacinamide and licorice root extract to even the skin tone and lighten hyperpigmentation. If you have experience using retinoids, however, then CeraVe may be too gentle for you.
  • First Aid Beauty
    Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration

    Devan Jesmer

As temperatures get cooler, switch out your lightweight gel-creams for moisturizers that are much richer. First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream is one such cream that works in the fall on skin that is sensitized or dry.

It contains colloidal oatmeal, a star ingredient that protects the skin and relieves itching and minor irritation caused by eczema, rashes, and other skin conditions. It also has moisturizing and soothing properties thanks to the shea butter, squalane, and allantoin in the formula.

Although the product may look like a very thick cream, it completely melts into the skin, resulting in long-lasting moisture.
  • Naturium
    Intense Overnight Sleeping Cream

    Devan Jesmer

The purpose of sleeping masks is to create a layer on top of your skin to seal in the rest of your skincare, optimizing skin regeneration.

This mask cream by Naturium contains epidermal lipids, an essential component to the skin that plays a crucial role in strengthening the skin barrier and promotes the absorption of actives. It also contains honey, which is soothing, moisturizing, and antibacterial!

If you have oily skin or are congestion-prone, you probably don’t need to add this to your routine. But for all other skin types, I recommend this product. The texture feels like actual butter—and after sleeping with it on, you’ll wake up to soft, soothed, and moisturized skin.
  • Laneige
    Lip Sleeping Mask

    Devan Jesmer

Although lip care is important all year round, as fall approaches, we have to be extra diligent about caring for our lips to keep the flakiness away. The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is great for cold weather and has a cult following for a reason!

This sleeping mask provides a protective layer on the lips to lock in moisture while you sleep. It also contains vitamin C, antioxidants, and berry extracts. It also works during the day as a lip balm and one tub lasts forever, making it an affordable option. After using this mask at night, I always wake up to soft, happy lips.
