There are a number of ergonomic office space calculators online that will pop out ideal heights for your seat and desk (both when sitting and standing).
For example, if you’re 5 feet 5 inches, you want the seat of your chair to be about 15.5 inches off the ground and the top of your desk to be about 24.5 inches tall when you’re sitting and 39.5 inches tall when you’re standing.
Of course, it should go without saying that these numbers are only for reference. They’re not set in stone and everyone has different proportions. If you can, get a friend and some measuring tape and find what positions are most comfortable for you. Or ask a professional.
For reference, a kid’s school desk might be about 36 inches across and 24 inches deep, whereas an executive’s desk is about 60 by 30 inches. Everyone’s different, so the best thing to do is bust out the measuring tape and measure your current work area, then think about whether you might want to add on or shave off a couple of inches.
Electronic desks are certainly easier. By simply pressing arrows on the front side of your desk, you can move it up or down. Many also allow you to save your height settings so that a single button will take you to your preset sitting or standing height.
On the other hand, manual desks are often significantly cheaper than electronic ones, and if you won’t be changing heights too frequently, they aren’t even too much more of a hassle.
Or, if you use a desktop computer, it might make sense to have a two-tiered desk to improve your neck positioning as well as give you a little more room for organization.

Reviewers do say that the design of the desk is not great, with errors with the controller occurring soon after setup. However, most people like the sturdiness of the desk and the smooth transitions between heights.
Reviewers expressed frustration over the assembly of the desk. It can be a bit confusing, so make sure you have time to look over and piece it together carefully. Other reviewers like the memory settings and the solid construction of the desk overall.
Reviewers find the desk quite wobbly and had a hard time assembling it. However, they like how it is portable and storable.
The best thing you can do with your height adjustable desk is to actually use the adjusting feature to alternate between sitting and standing. You can do this in intervals of 30 to 60 minutes so long as you’re spending about one hour standing for every one to two hours sitting.
To reap the full ergonomic benefits, you also want to be sure that your neck and back are in proper alignment. Your computer screen should be raised so that you’re looking straight ahead, not downwards. And your arms should be at about a 90º angle.
You may also want to purchase an anti-fatigue mat for when you’re standing. These not only make standing more comfortable but also encourage small movements, which keep your blood flowing and reduce discomfort.
