A gaming chair that supports your posture when playing games or working on a PC. It's said to reduce fatigue even when sitting for long periods of time and minimizes the strain on your back and waist. We'll explain the differences between gaming and office chairs, which are also designed for long periods of sitting.
Office chairs, like gaming chairs, are made with ergonomics in mind, and they are markedly more comfortable to sit in compared to a simple chair. However, there is a big difference in terms of comfort between office chairs and gaming chairs because they are designed for different uses.
If we consider the shape and size first, gaming chairs have long backrests that offer support all the way up to the head, while most office chair backrests do not reach the neck. Gaming chairs are designed to be large so that the entire body is supported, allowing users to play games while fully relaxing.
The reclining feature of gaming chairs is also different from regular office chairs. Since gamers spend a lot of time in their chairs, some can recline up to 180 degrees for napping. On the other hand, office chairs are mostly designed for taking short breaks and do not have as much reclining capacity as gaming chairs.
Both types of chairs share the aspect of reducing fatigue and alleviating the strain on the lower back, but they differ in how they support the body and offer different options. If you want to focus on work for a short amount of time, choose an office chair; if you want something that offers support for long hours, a gaming chair is recommended.
Office chairs provide strong lumbar support, while gaming chairs have a high reclining performance and are versatile. Furthermore, one of the differences between gaming chairs and office chairs is that gaming chairs can generally be purchased at a more affordable price.
The three important factors to consider when choosing a gaming chair are cushioning, breathability, and the abundance of relaxation positions. The product that particularly performed well in all three categories amongst those we tested was AKRacing's Core Series EX Gaming Chair.
The backrest and seat are soft and cradle the body nicely, in addition to the materials used being breathable, so you won't sweat even after sitting for a long time. It comes with plenty of options, allowing you to find points of relaxation while adjusting your posture.
This model is somewhat pricey, but its superior performance in our tests makes it well worth the price. It's a long-lasting chair that we recommend to anyone searching for a quality gaming chair.
If you're looking to purchase a gaming chair at a lower price, we recommend GTRACING's Gaming Chair with Footrest Speakers. You can buy it for about half the price of the AKRacing's top-rated chair.
This product has a variety of options. The reclining feature can be tilted up to 160 degrees, and it also comes with a footrest, allowing you to stretch out and relax. For gamers, having a footrest is appealing, especially since many chairs do not offer this feature.
The material is firmer and not excellent in terms of cushioning, but not to the point where you'll feel uncomfortable. Although it is made of leather, it doesn't get extremely hot, so we felt that it performs sufficiently well as a chair
Here are the points to keep in mind when choosing the best Gaming Chairs.
The ideal gaming chair should allow you to sit for long periods without fatigue and without putting undue strain on your back or waist. In this section, we'll give you some pointers for choosing a gaming chair that minimizes strain on your waist and reduces fatigue.
In our tests, we found that chairs with softer seat surfaces and backrests and high cushioning are less tiring even when sitting for long periods of time. The more cushioning it has, the more your waist and back are enveloped, supporting a healthy posture. On the other hand, if the seat surface and backrest are too firm, it’s harder to contour the body, and sitting for a long time can cause body pain.
All of the highest-rated chairs in our list have ample cushioning and are easy to contour to the body. To find a chair that doesn't make you feel tired even when sitting for a long time, select one with a high level of cushioning on the seat surface and backrest.
From a young age, I spent a lot of time inside the house and sat a lot more than others, which resulted in me suffering from lower back pain. Even now, if I sit for long periods, my back and buttocks hurt, and I want to stand up right away.
However, since purchasing a gaming chair, the frequency of pain has significantly reduced due to its high cushioning. Even those who are not currently suffering from lower back pain will inevitably experience some strain on their lower back from sitting, so I recommend gamers who play for long periods of time to buy a gaming chair with high cushioning.
Lumbar support plays a role in dispersing pressure on the lower back, following the natural curvature of the spine. It's important to check if the gaming chair has lumbar support when choosing one for less fatigue.
Without lumbar support, the weight of the upper body and the bounce from the seat would concentrate on the lower back and cause pain and fatigue. However, lumbar support allows you to keep sitting in a correct posture, relieving strain on your lower back.
Furthermore, the size and thickness of the lumbar support is another important point. There are both small and large cushions, but larger cushions are able to cover more of the spine, which tends to have a greater effect on reducing strain. If you want to further alleviate the strain on your lower back, pay attention to the size and thickness of the lumbar support.
When looking for a chair to sit in for extended periods, it's also important to consider whether it tends to trap heat. If you sit in a chair with poor ventilation, even sitting for a short time can make your bottom and back feel hot, and you may even end up sweating, depending on the situation. In this section, we will explain how to select a gaming chair that allows you to continue sitting without feeling hot.
Gaming chairs are mainly composed of three types of materials: leather, fabric, and mesh. Each of these materials has its own merits, but if you want to sit for long periods without feeling sweaty or hot, fabric or mesh would be the ideal choice.
Mesh is outstanding for its breathability, and even if you sit for over an hour, it won't get hotter than your body temperature, allowing you to sit comfortably for prolonged periods. It's a recommended option for those who are concerned about heat buildup and want to avoid feeling sweaty and sticky. On the downside, mesh tends to include less cushioning, so the comfort level might be somewhat inferior compared to fabric or leather.
Fabric-covered chairs are known for their breathability, pleasant texture, and relatively reduced heat retention. By choosing a fabric chair, you'll be able to maintain a good balance between comfort and breathability.
Leather, on the other hand, offers an appealing sense of luxury. It's resistant to stains and dirt, and even if you spill drinks on it, it's easy to clean. However, it isn't the most breathable material. Some types have been known to trap heat that surpasses body temperature after just 15 minutes of sitting. If breathability is a priority for you, it's best to avoid leather.
The first gaming chair I purchased was made of leather material. Not fully understanding the difference in materials, I bought something inexpensive, but less than a year later, the leather on the seating area began to peel off in chunks, resulting in a situation where fragments of leather would fall onto the floor every time I stood up.
While leather does have the advantage of being easy to wipe off spilled drinks or sweat, it would be better to buy a model in a fabric or mesh that feels nice to the touch and has good ventilation.
When you're sitting in a gaming chair for a long time, you'll naturally want to change your posture, play games in different positions, or take breaks. Some gaming chairs not only allow you to sit comfortably but also come equipped with features that enable you to take a short nap. In this section, we'll explain how to choose a relaxing gaming chair.
The most important feature for relaxing and gaming in a laid-back posture is the reclining function. If you want to lie down and relax, we recommend a product that can recline significantly. With products that can recline more than 150 degrees, you'll be able to rest as comfortably as if you were sleeping in bed.
You can still relax at a slope of around 130 degrees, but if you want to take a nap or a break, you might feel like the slope is not quite enough. Consider what posture you want to rest in and decide on the angle of the recliner accordingly.
The reclining function is an important feature for reducing strain on the back. If you plan to spend a long time on a chair, such as for gaming, working, or taking a nap, make sure to choose a chair that can recline deeply.
Reclining is crucial for comfortable breaks, but you can rest in an even more relaxed posture with chairs that support you from head to toe. It's a good idea to check whether there is a headrest for head support and an ottoman for foot support.
A headrest is a cushion placed to support the neck, reducing the weight of the head on the neck. For those who often lean their bodies or heads backwards while sitting, the presence or absence of a headrest can alter the strain on the head, so it's worth checking.
An ottoman is a footrest that allows you to stretch out and relax. When used together with a recliner, it can enable you to rest as if you were sleeping in a bed. Putting your feet on an ottoman greatly reduces the strain on your feet, so if you want to sit in a more relaxed position in your gaming chair, it's recommended to choose one with an ottoman.
While playing games, you might often find yourself leaning forward, so you may not rest your head on the backrest very often. However, you don't always have to stay focused during gameplay. There will be times when you're waiting for matches or during movie scenes when you're not operating anything, and you may want to rest your body against the backrest.
By the way, I always sit with my feet on an ottoman. Being able to sit relaxed can help ease the tension during the game, leading to better gameplay.
One charm of the gaming chair is its ability to adapt to various postures. In this part, we will explain how to choose a gaming chair that fits your body even when you change your posture.
Being able to adjust the position of your elbow can help reduce operational errors during gameplay and also alleviate arm fatigue. Armrests that can adjust in height and angle allow for precise positioning to suit your preference.
Some gaming chairs come with fixed armrests. In this case, be aware that you cannot change the height or angle even if you want to. Those who want to adjust the elbow's position according to their body posture should choose a model where the height and angle of the armrest can be adjusted.
If the depth of the seat is short and your legs stick out towards the front, the seat won't be very comfortable. When sitting deeply, it's recommended that the distance between the back of your knees and the seat is as close as possible.
If the depth is short when you sit, only about half of your thighs will rest on the seat, and you won't be able to relax. Also, there will be less space to move your legs, which might make you feel cramped. As a guideline for chairs that leave minimal space behind the knees and have ample space to maneuver, choose one with a seat depth of 19.6 inches or more.
If you're looking for a chair with adjustable armrests and ample seat depth, we recommend the Core Series EX Gaming Chair from AKRacing. This product has proven its efficiency among the ones we tested.
The armrests can be adjusted both in height and angle, allowing you to set your preferred position. Adjusting the angle inward makes it easier to prop your elbows up, and adjusting outward increases the space to move your arms freely.
The seat has a wide depth and width, ensuring a comfortable fit behind your knees. Not only can you sit deeply and maintain a stable posture, but the seat is also spacious enough to cross your legs on top of it.

Originally a manufacturer specializing in the production and development of racing car seats, AKRacing's Core Series EX Gaming Chair is built with a steel frame. It is a highly durable chair that is said to be usable for up to 10 years.
In the fatigue resistance test, the chair could be sat in for a long time without feeling pain or strain in the back or waist, as both the backrest and the seat are highly cushioned. The lumbar support is also soft and large enough to widely support the waist, significantly reducing the burden on the spine. Overall, the chair has good cushioning and fits the body, allowing for stable seating.
In terms of ventilation, the fabric material provides good breathability. There is no sensation of heat build-up even if you sit for a long time. This chair is suitable for long periods of sitting, whether you are gaming or working.
As for ease of relaxation, it reclines down to 180 degrees, so you can rest as if you're sleeping in a bed. The headrest felt comfortable, providing a moderate rebound even when pressed against the head.
The seat depth is a sufficient 20 inches, providing an appropriate gap between the chair and the back of your knees, allowing your legs to move freely. The armrests can also be adjusted in terms of angle and height, so you can adjust them to the optimal position when playing games.

The China-based manufacturer, AutoFull, creates designs for gaming chairs based on ergonomics, like their C3 Gaming Chair. The appeal lies in their use of large, thick lumbar support.
In the fatigue resistance test, because of the thick and highly cushioned seat, we could sit comfortably without feeling the hardness of the leather upholstery. Many people also said they appreciated the high level of cushioning in their reviews. The lumbar support is very large and can support up to the middle of the back as well as the waist. The shape fits the curvature of the spine and the cushions, so you won't feel the strain on your lower or middle back even if you sit for a long time.
In the ventilation test, the material of the lumbar support was highly breathable, and we didn't feel much heat build-up on the back or waist. On the other hand, because the seating and backrest have a leather covering, we felt a bit of warmth when sitting for a prolonged period.
In terms of comfort, the recliner can be tilted up to 165 degrees, allowing you to fully entrust your body to the chair and relax enough to even take a nap. Because an ottoman is used, you can also enjoy stretching out your legs, which is great for full relaxation. This chair is recommended for people who want to take a break from gaming or work on the spot.

Established in 2013, Blue Whale, a Chinese manufacturer specializing in furniture production, promotes their High Back Gaming Chair for Adults. They claim to have carefully designed it for even taller people to sit comfortably.
In the fatigue resistance test, our testers were able to sit comfortably, entrusting the back to the generously sized chair. It gives the impression of easy posture stabilization as it firmly wraps around the body. Despite the leather appearance, the material is generally soft and the body sinks a little into it, so we were able to sit for a long time without feeling any strain on the buttocks, back, or waist.
In our evaluation of breathability, though it is leather, it has a smooth touch, and we did not feel the kind of heat that promotes sweating. If you sit for a long time, you might feel a bit of moisture on the seat and backrest, but if you take your body off the chair even for a short time when changing positions, the heat will escape, increasing the time you can sit without worrying about moisture.
Regarding the ease of relaxation, the recliner can be tilted up to 155 degrees, so you can adjust it to an angle that you could fall asleep in. An ottoman is also included, so you can extend your legs and play games in a relaxed posture.
The depth of the seat is 20.8 inches, which is the longest among those we tested. There's enough space to sit comfortably, so even people who are 5'9" or taller can sit without feeling cramped. However, it's not possible to adjust the angle or the height of the armrests. You can't adjust it to your preferred location, so it's not suitable for those who want to adjust their elbow placement to reduce arm strain.

The Retro Series LS-6689 from Dowinx, is from a Chinese furniture manufacturer established in 2018. Its distinctive feature is its lumbar support equipped with a massage function.
In the evaluation of fatigue resistance, the backrest and seat have moderate cushioning, but the overall impression is slightly firm. The lumbar support is larger in size and has a noticeable thickness. Even if you lean your body on the backrest, the lumbar support won't collapse, creating a sense of relief in the lumbar area. You'll likely be able to maintain a stable posture even after sitting for a long time.
In the ventilation test, heat did not build up to the point where the skin felt extremely sticky. However, since it's made of leather, if you sit for a long time, you will likely gradually start to feel the heat building up on the back of your thighs and where the lumbar support touches your lower back.
Regarding ease of relaxation, the chair can recline up to 165 degrees, and if you lie down completely relaxed, you can be as comfortable as if you were sleeping in bed. An ottoman is also included, so you can also rest with a relaxed posture stretching your legs. The headrest is a bit small, so it needs some adjusting to a position where you can support your neck and reduce the strain.
The seat depth is 21.6 inches, the longest among the ones we've tested this time. Even for those with long legs, there is enough depth so that you can sit comfortably without feeling a gap between the back of your knees and the chair. The armrests cannot be adjusted at either angle or height. It is not suitable for those who want to adjust the position of the armrests to expand their arm's range of motion or place their elbows in a preferred position.

Gtracing, a Chinese manufacturer with a corporate mission to deliver high-quality, cost-effective products to consumers around the world, offers the Gtracing Gaming Chair with Footrest Speakers GT890MF. A unique feature of this chair is the speaker installed in the back, which allows you to listen to music directly from the chair.
In terms of fatigue resistance, the overall size is relatively small, making it particularly suitable for individuals who are not very tall, helping them maintain a less tiring posture. The cushioning is somewhat hard, so it's not suitable for those seeking a sofa-like comfort. The lumbar support is small but highly cushioned, providing a bouncy response that supports the back and alleviates pain and fatigue.
In the ventilation test, although the texture of the material is smooth, the breathability is not good due to the leather material. Over time, we felt heat on the back of the thighs and the backrest when sitting for long periods. This chair is not suitable for those who want to spend all day gaming on it.
In terms of relaxation, the recliner can bend up to 160 degrees, allowing you to relax in a posture similar to lying in bed. However, since the backrest is not wide, if you recline, both shoulders may protrude from the chair. It can lean back deeply, but those with a large body size need to be cautious.
The depth of the seat is 19.3 inches, which feels a bit short. If a tall person sits down, there will be a gap between the chair and the back of their knees, reducing the sense of fit. The armrest is adjustable in both angle and height. With smooth movements, you can adjust the height and angle to position your elbow optimally and reduce the strain on your arm.

The manufacturer, Nouhaus, which prides itself on crafting refined furniture, has produced the Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair NHO-0001. They claim to design based on ergonomics.
In the test of fatigue resistance, the seat and backrest supported with elastic mesh tension are strong but don’t allow for easy contouring of the body. The lumbar support is large and excessively curved, which pushes back so much that the waist is lifted, causing an awkward fit that may increase fatigue over time.
In the ventilation test, there was virtually no heat buildup because the entire chair is made of mesh material. It is particularly recommended for people who are bothered by the discomfort of sweating from the heat trapped behind the thighs and the backrest. You will be able to sit all day without worrying about feeling stuffy.
Regarding the ease of relaxation, the reclining only goes up to 135 degrees maximum, so you can't experience the feeling of lying down in bed. There is also no ottoman included, so caution is advised for those who want to stretch their legs and take a break.
The depth of the seat is the shortest among the products listed in the ranking at 17.3 inches. You can only place about half of your thighs on the seat, creating a large gap between the back of your knees and the chair. This makes the fit between your legs and the chair less than ideal. Plus, the lack of space to move your legs on the seat may make you feel cramped. This chair may be uncomfortable.

Respawn, a manufacturer with experience in creating workplace tools based on ergonomics, boasts its 110 Ergonomic Gaming Chair. They redesigned this model in 2023, aiming to achieve a more sophisticated design.
In the fatigue resistance test, the seat had a thick, soft cushion, and the backrest was somewhat firm. The backrest is tall enough so you can comfortably recline your whole body, including your head. However, be aware that it lacks lumbar support, so it can easily strain your lower back if you sit for a long time.
In our ventilation test, since the upholstery is leather, it tends to retain heat more than chairs made of fabric or mesh, and you can feel the heat from the seat and backrest if you sit for a long time. Perhaps due to the absence of lumbar support, the waist area does not have the same heat buildup.
In terms of relaxation, the recliner can be tilted to 135 degrees, so it doesn't provide the same level of comfort as lying sideways on a bed. Since there isn't a headrest, there's no support to keep your head steady, and the position doesn't stabilize when you lean your head on the backrest. When your head is not securely positioned, it increases strain on your neck, leaving you more likely to feel tired.
The seat depth is sufficient at 19.6 inches. Since there is no lumbar support, you can sit deeper and firmly place your thighs on the seat. The armrests cannot be adjusted in height or angle. Although the elbow rest itself is wide, it may not be suitable for those who want to rest their elbows on the armrests and play games at their favorite angle.

Established in 2005, RAZER is an American gaming device manufacturer that touts their Iskur X Ergonomic Gaming Chair. With its unique shape and optimally angled seat, it claims to support a healthy sitting posture.
In the fatigue resistance test, both the seat and the backrest were extremely hard, causing pain in the lower and middle back even after sitting for just a short while. There was also no stability to the back rest, so there was no enveloping hold, and our testers did not feel stable sitting in the chair. In addition, there was no lumbar support and no cushion around the waist, so when sitting for a long time, the weight of the upper body could not be dispersed through the bottom of the chair due to the hardness of the seat, causing a considerable strain on the back.
In testing for breathability, there was a lot of heat buildup due to the leather material. Both the seat and the backrest quickly became hot even after sitting for just a few minutes. We would not recommend this chair for someone who wants to sit all day.
Regarding the ease of relaxation, the reclining can be laid back up to 139 degrees. This is a sufficient angle to take a break, but the backrest is hard. So even if you recline and lay it back, it likely won’t fit your body, and our testers didn't feel very comfortable. Like the lumbar support, there is no headrest, and since you have to rest your head on the hard backrest, it might feel uncomfortable.
The depth of the seat is 21.2 inches, which is among the longest tested. Without lumbar support, the seat space is wide, allowing you to move your legs and buttocks freely on the seat. The armrests are adjustable in both height and angle. If adjusted to the right height, you won't need to keep your elbows up when typing on the PC or playing games, greatly reducing the strain on your arms.
