Prof. Dr. Seiji Nakagawa completed the doctoral program at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Engineering. After working at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and the University of Washington, Dr. Nakagawa became a professor at Chiba University in 2016. He has been working to deepen our understanding of how humans perceive and process sensory information via bone conduction using psychological and physiological measurements and computer simulations. Dr. Nakagawa is implementing the results of his research to develop new bone-conduction hearing aids and smartphones in collaboration with domestic and overseas manufacturers. He has received the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Docomo Mobile Science Award, the Ichimura Academic Award for Contribution, the Nature Medicine-AnGes MG BioMedical Award, and the Marubun Research Encouragement Award.
