Before explaining which vacuum cleaner may suit you best, let's first explore the distinctive features of each type.
In the United States, upright and canister vacuum cleaners are the standard. Being corded, they offer high suction power, eliminating concerns about battery depletion, especially during whole-house cleaning.
However, their corded nature can make them heavy and require consideration of power source locations, which can be a drawback in terms of maneuverability. To address these concerns, cordless stick cleaners are another option, benefiting from recent enhancements in battery performance and suction power.
Additionally, handheld cleaners are handy for cleaning cars or detailed areas around the house. Robot vacuum cleaners, capable of automating the cleaning process, can also be considered based on your budget and preferences.
Here are the points to keep in mind when choosing the best Vacuum Cleaner.
Consider getting both a robot vacuum and a cordless stick cleaner if you:
Desire maximum cleaning convenience
Are open to investing in convenience without strict budget constraints
Have a low proportion of long-pile carpets
This combination is great as the automated floor cleaning capability of a robot vacuum, paired with the portability of a lightweight, cordless stick cleaner, simplifies your cleaning responsibilities.
Robot vacuum cleaners can effortlessly navigate through obstacle-free areas and handle steps, leaving you with only the corners of the house, second-floor spaces, stairs, or any spots the robot might have overlooked to clean manually. This reduces your manual cleaning efforts by about half.
Our testing revealed that a high-quality robot vacuum cleaner can showcase ample suction power, even on short-pile carpets. While it may not achieve perfection, it generally possesses the capability to pick up noticeable debris.
While mop robots come at a higher price compared to robot vacuum cleaners, they excel at wiping off stubborn stains like mud. Depending on your flooring material and home environment, choosing one of these might be a better option.
Traditionally, robot vacuum cleaners were not considered a viable option for many due to their high price, frequent collisions with furniture, and often insufficient suction power.
However, current robot vacuum cleaners, led by the Roomba series, have improved collision avoidance capabilities, and some models can even navigate around objects like slippers not stored in their map. Additionally, prices have become more reasonable since their initial release, with basic models now available for around $100, making them more accessible to a wider range of consumers.
Robot vacuum cleaners may struggle with debris in corners or on steps, leaving you to consider the hassle of bringing out an upright or canister vacuum cleaner for these small areas. In such cases, a lightweight cordless stick vacuum can efficiently handle leftover debris.
A cordless stick vacuum excels at cleaning detailed areas like along walls and stairs, covering spots that a robot vacuum cleaner might miss. Weighing about 6 pounds less than an upright vacuum cleaner, it offers enhanced portability when moving across different floors.
If you already have a robot vacuum cleaner at home and there aren't many areas it misses, a handheld cleaner might be sufficient for your needs.
A while back, cordless stick vacuums could last only about 20 minutes at most, and many lacked sufficient suction power. However, recent advancements in battery performance have led to stick cleaners that can operate for up to 60 minutes. While Dyson still leads in terms of suction power, there are also sufficiently convenient models from more affordable brands like BLACK+DECKER.
Cordless vacuum cleaners can save time when cleaning short-pile carpets or hard floors. However, being cordless, they typically have less power compared to corded models and may not be as suitable for long-pile carpets.
Upright vacuum cleaners are recommended for people who:
Want to keep their budget low
Desire a vacuum cleaner with strong suction
Have a higher proportion of long-pile carpets
Upright vacuum cleaners, being corded, provide ample suction power. Their design, with the suction head and dust collection part at the front, ensures strong adherence to the floor, making them the most powerful suction-wise among the vacuum cleaners we tested.
Combining a robot vacuum cleaner and a stick cleaner can significantly ease the cleaning process, but purchasing both new can cost around $750 to $800.
In contrast, the average price for an upright vacuum cleaner is around $200, making it a more affordable option. It has enough suction power to clean up debris along the edges and even from long-pile carpets. While fine sand might remain deep within the carpet fibers, the surface looks impeccable. For those who want to keep the appearance of their floors clean regardless of the material, this should not be an issue.
Despite its old-fashioned image, the upright type remains the dominant type of household vacuum cleaner.
Many uprights now have wands that allow them to have some of the versatility of a canister vacuum without dealing with the long hose and multiple parts of a canister vacuum.
Canister vacuum cleaners are recommended for people who:
Already own an upright vacuum cleaner
Want a secondary vacuum cleaner for areas like bedrooms
Find it difficult to clean under furniture with an upright vacuum cleaner
Have a lower proportion of long-pile carpets
Upright vacuum cleaners pose a challenge for cleaning under furniture due to their large dust collection area near the head.
Canister vacuum cleaners feature a compact head ideal for flooring and short-pile rugs, making them excellent for maneuvering in tight spaces such like under furniture. Their smaller size and wheeled design contribute to enhanced mobility.
However, the wheeled design might pose challenges in movement, particularly on long-pile carpets where the wheels may encounter issues. If your home includes even one long-pile carpet, opting for an upright vacuum cleaner could be a more suitable choice.
Handheld cleaners are recommended for people who
Frequently clean small areas such as desks and tables
Already have a robot vacuum cleaner or an upright vacuum cleaner at home and are concerned about leftover debris in tight spaces
Find stick cleaners to be slightly over budget
Want to use it for cleaning a car’s interior
Handheld cleaners are even more compact and lightweight than stick cleaners.
If you already have an upright or robot vacuum cleaner and want to clean small areas more thoroughly or you need a vacuum cleaner that can be used for cleaning a car, then a handheld cleaner is recommended.
If you're cleaning small areas at home, using a stick cleaner with interchangeable nozzles can also serve as a handheld cleaner, making it a versatile choice for those who value flexibility.
For those looking to clean their car interior, a handheld can also be a great investment, as many models can be charged in a car.

The V15 Detect was released in 2021 and is Dyson’s best vacuum. It has a piezoelectric sensor that measures dust based on vibrations and a green laser that helps detect debris. This vacuum boasts overwhelming suction power that can clean any surface. The Fluffy Cleaner Head picks up small debris, large debris, and hair on hardwood and tile flooring, while the Motorbar Cleaner Head draws out sand from the carpet.
When you empty the dust canister, debris stuck to the filter gets scraped off automatically, so all you need to do is wash off the pre-motor filter to clean it. When its suction power was on medium, the battery lasted 45 minutes, which is above average. In addition, a display on the handle tells you how much battery life you have left down to the second, so you don’t have to worry about the vacuum shutting off while you’re using it.
It can’t be beaten in terms of power and functionality, but it’s a bit heavier and noisier than we’d like. It glides effortlessly across the floor when vacuuming, but it feels heavy when you lift it. This might not be the best option if you need to carry it up and down stairs regularly. On top of that, the Motorbar Cleaner Head makes a lot of noise when it hits the floor, even in eco mode, which is the weakest. We recommend using the Fluffy Cleaner Head when you use it at night.
This is the best cordless vacuum on the market, with plenty of suction power and a long-lasting battery. It won’t leave you disappointed about switching from a corded unit and is capable of serving as your primary vacuum.

The Dyson V8 Absolute was released in 2016, but it’s still a popular model even today. As its name suggests, it comes with eight attachments, including a Fluffy Cleaner Head. This vacuum has the suction power you expect from a Dyson. It misses slightly more debris than the V15, but you can use the two brush heads to tackle any floor type. You shouldn’t run into any situations this vacuum can’t handle.
This vacuum has two areas that you'll need to clean, both of which can be washed. It has one more part to wash compared to the V15, but debris is removed automatically when you open the cyclone cylinder in this model, just like the V15. It doesn’t take much longer to clean than the V15. You can change the suction power between high and low. On low with the brush head attached, it lasted 36 minutes. On the other hand, it only lasted eight minutes and 31 seconds on high. It has powerful suction regardless, so keeping it on low is a good idea.
Unlike the V15, it doesn’t display how much battery you have left. However, it’s lighter than the V15, so it’s great for people who frequently need to lift it or carry it up and down stairs. On top of that, it’s quieter as well. The Motobar Cleaner Head does make some knocking noises, but using the Fluffy Cleaner Head on low mode keeps the noise down to 63.1 decibels. While it lacks some features, it’s quiet and user-friendly, making it a well-balanced product. This vacuum is excellent for people looking for easy cleaning.

Tineco makes smart appliances, mostly vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers. Their Pure One S11 vacuum cleaner can connect with an app, has an automatic mode, and is lightweight. It can’t match the suction power of a Dyson, but it takes care of even small debris on hard floors. However, it couldn’t remove the debris from deep crevices in low or high pile carpet, and hair gets tangled up in the brush head. This vacuum is best for people without pets and who have mostly wood or tile floors.
The main draw of this vacuum is how quiet it is, as it dominates the competition in this regard. It was the only product we tested that stayed below 65 decibels, even on high. This makes it an excellent choice for people who clean at night or don’t want to disturb their neighbors or family. Its battery lasts 28 minutes in auto mode. This is usually long enough, but it depends on how dirty your floor is. The vacuum only displays remaining battery life with three bars, but you can check the exact percentage by connecting it to the app.
It’s relatively light, making it easy to handle. However, it’s hard to turn it the way you want due to the curve of the juncture between the unit and the brush head. It wasn’t good at making tight turns around furniture or under the sofa. This is the product for you if you’re looking for a quiet vacuum for mostly hardwood or composite flooring or tile.

The Roomba name has become most closely associated with robot vacuums. Their Roomba j7+ model shows the evolution of the brand's obstacle avoidance, and it's received praise for its ability to avoid things like pet droppings and other unexpected waste.
In order to test its claims, we put a slipper on the ground after it had finished mapping the room. While all the other products we tested ran straight into the slipper, only this was able to recognize its presence and move out of the way.
Another plus point is its use of rubber for the brushes, which didn't allow hair or other debris to get tangled up. Since it throws dirt out by itself at the disposal station and only requires infrequent maintenance, it's a good choice for people who have pets with long fur.
On the downside, it made noticeable impacts when it ran into things. It would frequently run into legs on tables and sofas and rarely avoided obstacles before colliding. On the other hand, it turned widely around power cables on the ground, resulting in some spots not getting cleaned. The extreme sensitivity of its obstacle avoidance functionality sometimes causes trash to get left behind, and it ended up getting to about 70 percent of everything we left out.
This model excels in doing a quick one-over of the whole room as opposed to meticulously cleaning every little spot, but thankfully it maintains its strength on carpets. It was able to suck up about half of the trash we left on the carpets in our tests, which most of the other robot vacuums failed at.
As a high end model within the Roomba lineup, it doesn't leave anything out when it comes to feature set. The advanced disposal station is more compact than those for many other robot vacuums, so it won't stand out awkwardly in your living room. While it isn't number one when it comes to suction power or obstacle avoidance, its performance still has advantages that aren't seen in other robot vacuums.

The roborock Q5+ "Robot Vacuum with Self-Empty Dock" is equipped with a laser on top of the unit to detect obstacles and room size. It's mapping function is precise even in the dark, and it recognizes your room as a three dimensional space. The resulting map is easy to understand and lets you specify keep out zones and particular areas you want cleaned.
This robot vacuum scored high on our tests, revealing an overall well-balanced product. It took the best score in mapping performance thanks to the variety of features found in the accompanying app. You can set a different start time for each day of the week and set the suction mode to "nighttime" or "high performance", which lets each individual adjust performance to their own needs.
It uses a laser and camera to understand the layout of a room, resulting in relatively lighter impacts with obstacles. Mapping only takes about five minutes, so you can get straight to cleaning. Even when using the quick mapping feature, the map is reasonably accurate, and it will usually slow down when it nears a curve or obstacle. To a person watching, it looks like it's thinking on its own.
When we tested the high performance setting, we noticed that it cautiously approached table legs and other round obstacles while still leaving very little dirt behind. It picked up 1.25 ounces of the 1.3 ounces of trash that we left out, an entire 93.4 percent.
Thanks to the included disposal station, you'll only need to clean up after it about once a month, so we can confidently say it has all the features you would want in a robot vacuum. It doesn't really have any downside, so it's definitely a product to consider investing in.

Traditional robot vacuums would go over rooms in a "Z" pattern, which often led to collisions and spills. The Shark AV2501S AI Robot Vacuum with HEPA Self-Empty Base alleviates this problem by using its AI Laser Navigation for extremely precise mapping.
As it claims, the mapping feature is very advanced, and it takes about 15 minutes to map the entire room. As a result we could see that it gracefully avoided sofa legs and was able to cover every spot in the room.
The fact that it moves so cautiously also means it produces relatively little noise, and impacts with tables or other furniture were soft. We didn't experiences any impacts that made us take notice while sitting on the sofa.
The tradeoff for all this functionality is the inconvenience of the camera on top of the unit. It's 4.1 inches tall when you include the camera, which is too tall to get into some tight spots, such as under a TV stand. Also, it only has one bundle of brushes, so it sometimes leaves noticeable dirt and debris behind.
But even so, it delivers on its promise of getting to every nook and cranny of the room, and it managed to pick up over 90 percent of the trash we left out.
It also has all the features you would expect from a high end model, like programmable keep out zones and scheduled cleaning. The disposal station, which uses a HEPA filter, makes it easy to clean and care for.
With no major weaknesses and a relatively low price by the standards of high end robot vacuums, this is one model you'll want to keep in mind if you don't want to shell out for the most expensive products on the market.

Chinese brand Roborock, known for their robot vacuums and cordless cleaners, launched the S7 MaxV Ultra in 2022. This model combines the mop lift-up feature of the S7 with a multifunctional dock that allows for automatic trash collection and mop cleaning.
What stands out is its exceptional ability to avoid obstacles. It didn't bump into table legs at all and even recognized and avoided slippers placed in its path after mapping. Plus, thanks to the mop lift-up feature, it transitions seamlessly to suction without wetting the carpet. No need to fiddle with setting up water-wipe restricted areas or attaching and detaching the mop.
However, be cautious of a few things. While it can avoid electrical cords if recognized in advance, it can't free itself if it gets caught. It can also mistake curtains for walls, preventing it from cleaning deeper areas. Before operating, make sure no cords are hanging on the floor and that curtains are open.
Nevertheless, the cleaning performance is top-notch. Although it couldn't clean behind curtains, it was able to efficiently suck up any debris around furniture legs. When it detects a carpet, it automatically increases suction power for effective carpet cleaning. In our mop performance tests, it even managed to wipe away stubborn fluorescent paint.
Pet hair didn’t get tangled in its rubber brushes, which is a plus for pet owners. Coupled with automatic trash collection and mop cleaning, it requires almost zero maintenance.
Despite boasting such high specs, it operates at an average of 54.6 decibels, making it one of the quietest in its class. It's unlikely to bother you even if you're home while it's running.
This product automates every aspect of suction, mopping, and maintenance. If you're looking to make a purchase you won't regret, this is the one device we can recommend to everyone.

iRobot, a long-time leader in the robot vacuum industry, has finally released the Roomba Combo j7+, a model designed for both vacuuming and mopping. One of its key features is the lift-up function, which raises the mop when it detects a carpet.
The high-powered suction is also a major draw, capable of vacuuming all types of flooring, including deep into carpets.
However, it did leave traces of debris around one of the four furniture legs as well as on obstacle-free floors, giving the impression that it couldn't cover every single nook and cranny in just one cleaning cycle. That said, if you run it regularly, this shouldn't be much of an issue.
Its mopping performance is excellent, removing the fluorescent paint stains in just three minutes. While some traces remained in our tests, it's safe to say that it’s able to handle everyday messes effectively.
There were no major impacts when navigating around furniture, and it easily freed itself when caught on cords. Plus, it automatically switches to suction-only mode when it detects a carpet during mopping, so you don't have to worry about it getting stuck in one place.
The rubber brushes didn't tangle with pet hair, making it a good choice for homes with shedding pets. While you'll need to clean the mop manually, maintenance is generally minimal.
Despite boasting such high specs, it operates at an average of 57.1 decibels, making it one of the quietest in its class. It's unlikely to bother you even if you're home while it's running.
If you're looking for a device that can handle both hard floors and carpets without breaking the bank, this is a good one to consider.

ECOVACS, a brand who aim to support smart homes using robots like vacuum cleaners, window cleaners, and air purifiers, brings you the DEEBOT X1 Omni. This model not only features automatic trash collection and mop cleaning but also comes with a hot air mop-drying function.
While Roborock excels in intelligence and functionality, the DEEBOT X1 Omni shines in suction power that leaves no nook uncleaned. Especially around furniture legs, it cleans so well that you can't visually detect any leftover debris. Its mopping performance is also excellent, and it was able to remove fluorescent paint stains efficiently with its two rotating brushes.
On the flip side, it only managed to suck up about 35 percent of the debris scattered on carpets. It can clean the surface well, but it doesn't have the power to clean deep into the carpet.
Its collision avoidance is almost on par with Roborock. However, it lacks a mop lift-up feature, but it avoids any carpets it detects while mopping instead. To vacuum the carpet, you'll need to remove the mop and run the machine again, adding an extra step to the process.
As you'd expect from a high-end model, it comes with mapping and scheduling features, making automation a breeze.
In terms of maintenance, the brush isn't designed to handle wads of pet hair, so expect some tangles. While trash collection and mop cleaning are automatic, you'll have to manually remove any tangled-up hair from the brush.
Though it falls short in dealing with carpets and handling pet hair, it excels at cleaning hard floors. If you live in a home without carpets and want something that can thoroughly mop your hardwood or tile floors, we highly recommend this product.

According to a 10-point test conducted by mybest, the top of the upright vacuum cleaners is Kenmore's Intuition Bagged Upright Vacuum. It effectively balances suction power and user-friendly features, making it highly recommended for households with short-pile carpets.
Although it lacks the option to adjust the brush position based on the flooring, its simple design prevents the brush from spinning on hardwood floors, avoiding scratches while allowing it to operate on carpets. It excelled in suction power tests on both short-pile carpet and hardwood flooring, scoring over 4.7. Users praised it, saying, "It moves in the direction you want it to, even on long-pile carpets."
However, certain aspects of its performance, particularly the suction power on carpeted stairs, left room for improvement. Depending on the material of the stairs, the cleaning process might take a bit longer. Although it's a paper bag model, which makes waste disposal easy, there were instances of debris, like hair and pet fur, getting tangled due to the spacing between the brushes.
Nevertheless, for a price tag under $200, it delivers an overall performance akin to high-end models, with strong suction and smooth maneuverability.

The Dyson Ball Animal 3 Complete is a high-end model in the company's series and comes with an abundance of accessories but caters more to users prioritizing powerful suction over versatility and ease of use.
The product's suction power was highly rated, scoring nearly perfect on flooring and short-pile carpets. During a test on a long-pile carpet, running the vacuum back and forth five times effectively cleaned up almost half of the scattered waste, leaving the carpet nearly spotless. Additionally, the vacuum demonstrated the capability to pick up debris left behind by other vacuum cleaners.
The vacuum's strong suction, evident in the dust case capturing carpet fibers, isn't gentle on carpets. Its weight and large suction mouth firmly attach to the carpet, garnering negative feedback like "a very heavy monster" and "cleaning with this device is a bad experience" in usability tests, contrasting with the user-friendly Kenmore vacuum.
The vacuum's body and hose are not detachable. To clean stairs, position the vacuum at the bottom and extend the long 11.5-foot hose. Caution is advised if you have a lot of steps to vacuum.

Shark's Rotator Pet Lift-Away ADV Upright Vacuum features the company's unique roller-type head, "DuoClean PowerFins," renowned for its rare occurrence of hair entanglement.
Shark's roller head vacuums, lacking stiff brushes, avoid digging into long-pile carpets and are noted for their comfortable handling compared to other brands. However, some reviewers mentioned that its swivel movement range seemed somewhat narrower than other products, commenting, "It's very easy to move forward, but a bit difficult to turn."
While its non-digging brush design offers gentler treatment, it falls short in deep dust suction. When tested on a long-pile carpet, visible dust disappeared after one pass, but only about 10% of the scattered dirt was sucked up after five passes. Still, on low-pile carpets, it managed to suction about 95% of the dust after five passes. Unless you have long-pile carpets in your main living spaces, it might not pose a big problem.

The Shark Canister Pet Bagless Corded Vacuum features PowerFins that claim to dig deep into carpet. Its unique shape not only draws out debris, but also helps to keep dust and hair from getting stuck in the brush. The suction power is as strong as advertised, and it works on everything from hard surfaces such as flooring and tile to fluffy rugs with a long pile. It performed best on short-pile carpet, completely suctioning up even the sand deep inside just by going over the area once.
On the other hand, it left a little bit of debris behind against walls and on long-pile carpet. Suction power can be broken down into how well it sucks up and collects dirt, and this vacuum seems to excel at the latter. It lacks some power in that regard, which causes it to leave some dirt left in nooks and crannies. It also lost some points in user fatigue. While the head is compact, it weighs over 3½ pounds, and the canister weighs 9 pounds, 11 ounces. That sort of weight can easily tire you out.
That being said, you use the handle to switch between modes in addition to turning it on and off, so it’s very easy to use. This is one of the more expensive canister vacuums, but it has no glaring flaws and performs up to its price. If you’re looking to replace your canister vacuum, we strongly recommend this product.

In addition to a head called PowerFins, the Shark Vertex Bagless Corded Canister Vacuum comes with a roller brush. Just like the Canister Pet Bagless Corded Vacuum, it makes use of Shark’s proprietary Flexology technology that allows the wand to bend seamlessly and clean between furniture and under tables. While it can’t be adjusted to match your height, you can clean hard-to-reach areas without bending over, making it comfortable to use.
However, it weighs 17 pounds, 11 ounces, and the head alone weighs a whopping 4½ pounds. This is heavy enough to make it hard to lift with one armand doesn’t let you move it how you’d like. On top of that, it has two brushes that create space between the mouth and the wall, which causes it to struggle to pick up dirt. The roller brush gets blocked up, especially on long-pile carpet, which makes it uncomfortable to use and leaves debris behind.
On the other hand, it has flawless suction power on flooring and short-pile carpet, leaving only a few crumbs and grains of sand near the wall. While heavy, it’s long and compact including omnidirectional wheels, which allow you to pull it around corners without issue. You can operate it from the handle, so you can stop and start smoothly. Dust and hair won’t get stuck in the roller and fin heads, making it easy to maintain. This is a perfect product for people with long hair or pet owners.

Dyson is up there with Shark and Miele among the top vacuum brands. As its name suggests, their Big Ball Multi Floor Canister Vacuum is a compact canister vacuum similar in shape and size to a basketball. It stands up by itself if it tips over, so you can focus on cleaning. It uses a turbine head without a motor, designed to rotate the brush using its suction power. But when used on clingy surfaces like long-pile carpet, it can’t pick up debris and the rotation of the brush stops.
However, we found that it demonstrated adequate suction power on short-pile carpet. The brush didn’t get clogged and cleaned the surface while drawing out sand in the carpet. Surprisingly, it didn’t perform well on flooring, which is where turbine heads typically excel. The head is a relatively light 22 ounces, and it repels light debris, such as crumbs.
Where this product really stands out is in ease of maintenance. It has thin bristles and hardly any debris gets caught in the brush. It used Dyson’s signature scraper to make sure no debris stays in the filter, making it easy to clean thoroughly. It doesn’t have a carpet mode, but the suction power can be adjusted near the trigger. It’s rather minimal in terms of features and attachments, but is reasonably priced compared to Dyson’s stick vacuum cleaners. This is an excellent product to consider if you’re looking for a powerful vacuum at a cheaper price.

In our recent testing, the UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ by Shark emerged as the handheld vacuum closest to our ideal product according to mybest's criteria.
A standout feature is its exceptional suction power, earning high praise from our testers. The inclusion of a motor-driven tool designed for fabrics further enhances its versatility. With a single sweep, it effortlessly tackles debris on various surfaces, from hard floors to short-pile carpets. Whether it's a desk or a cushion cover, this device excels in swift and effective cleaning, leaving no trace of dirt or hair.
Throughout our testing in four different spaces, the UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ showcased its adaptability, effortlessly handling every challenge with its innate suction power. The covered filter design allows for easy disposal of garbage with a single touch, minimizing the effort required for regular maintenance.
Despite its impressive suction power, the operation time stands at an average of about 13 minutes. However, its efficient cleaning process compensates for this, making operation time less of a concern.
On the downside, the device requires approximately 6 hours for a full charge and lacks a dedicated stand. While the aesthetic appeal during charging may not be impressive, it remains a top choice for those prioritizing function over design.

BLACK+DECKER’s Dustbuster 20V MAX Flex Handheld Vacuum With Pet Hair Brush boasts a distinctive design setting it apart from conventional vacuum cleaners – a long hose connecting the dust canister and the nozzle.
During cleaning, you hold the dust canister in one hand while maneuvering the suction nozzle with the other. Although this may seem inconvenient with both hands occupied, it contributes to a surprisingly large dust collection capacity of 0.64L, a notable feature for a handheld vacuum.
In our tests, it showcased impressive suction power, efficiently clearing all visible debris in a single round trip on various flooring types. The angle-cut suction nozzle, providing a secure fit to the floor, appears to be a key factor in its successful performance. However, the high suction power might make it feel overly adherent to carpets and cushion covers, posing a challenge when trying to hold fabric in place with one hand occupied.
Despite its handheld, lightweight nature, it offers the convenience of reaching elevated areas, such as the top of stairs and curtain rails, resembling the functionality of an upright vacuum cleaner. With its sizable dust canister, disposing of waste becomes a seamless task with just one touch. While it requires both hands for operation, its versatility and power make it a commendable choice for users who prioritize these features.

The Shark WANDVAC Cordless Handheld Vacuum combines functionality and aesthetics, featuring a sleek body without a protruding dust canister and a convenient charging stand with accessory storage. Weighing in at a mere 1.32 pounds, it offers a lightweight experience with minimal fatigue during use.
While the dust collection capacity is modest at around 0.1L, necessitating more frequent emptying for daily cleaning, the disposal process involves a single-touch mechanism. However, the presence of tiny protrusions, like the button to empty the dust canister, can be a minor inconvenience as debris may get caught in these crevices.
When testing for suction power, the vacuum earned top marks with its nozzle that contoured perfectly to the floor, effortlessly clearing scattered sand on surfaces. Its strong suction power creates a sensation of adherence to the floor, even on various flooring types. Switching to the fabric tool enhances gripping, especially on carpets.
Despite its impressive suction power, operation time is relatively short at 8 minutes and 39 seconds. Nonetheless, the quick 2.5-hour full charging time is a positive aspect. Charging when not in use helps mitigate the limitation of the shorter operation time.
