There are many baby high chairs available from companies like Stokke, Graco, and Lalo, but you might be wondering which ones are comfortable for your child to sit in and easy to care for.

Most babies can safely use a baby high chair once they're six months old, which is around the time they become able to support their own weight while sitting up.
One of the benefits to having a baby high chair is that it helps your baby to focus on their food when it's mealtime. By doing so, your child will come to enjoy eating and be more likely to get the nutrients they need. It also helps them to keep their feet planted and maintain a good posture while eating, which makes chewing easier.
There are a wide variety of designs available, allowing you to choose one in your favorite color or that matches the rest of your home. It can be confusing and a bit stressful to get everything ready when you introduce your baby to solid foods. Buying a baby high chair early on will make the rest of your job that much easier.
High chairs can be broken down into two categories: baby high chairs and portable high chairs. Baby high chairs are usually sturdy and on the large side. They sit directly on the ground and are best used in a home setting, generally by people with plenty of space in their kitchen.
Portable high chairs, on the other hand, are usually foldable, compact, and have fewer features than baby high chairs, making them useful for people on the go. Most of them can be secured to a table or on top of a normal chair, so they don't sit on the ground. Their biggest advantage is their compact size, and people without as much space at home or those who often go out with their baby will find them more appropriate.
In this article, we specifically reviewed baby high chairs for home use. Feel free to use it as a reference so that you pick the one which works best for you.
Here are the points to keep in mind when choosing the best Baby High Chairs.
As children get older, they often start wiggling around in their seat or get up and run off when they should be eating. Baby high chairs are tall enough that your child could get injured if they were to fall off, so it's important to choose one that puts safety first.
5-point safety belts that go around a baby's arms, legs, and crotch are best. They secure your child firmly in place and aren't easy to escape from. 3-point safety belts that only go around a baby's legs and crotch leave their upper half unsupported, which can result in the child falling forward or even standing up to wiggle free.
In addition to the type of belt, you should also check whether a baby high chair comes with a guard or not. We recommend ones that keep the guard on even when the tray is detached. When your baby gets bigger, you might decide to continue using the baby high chair without the tray attached, so you'll have better peace of mind if the guard is still in place.
Spacing the legs far apart makes a baby high chair more stable. We also found that having non-slip material on the feet helps to keep it in place. In addition to providing stability and preventing slips, these traits can ensure your floor doesn't get damaged.
It was clear that chairs with the legs closer together or those that didn't use non-slip material at the bottom lacked stability. Since children are bound to move around a lot while sitting in their baby high chair, you should choose one that provides as much stability as possible.
If you're unsure, consider choosing one from this list.
Some baby high chairs also have spaces where you can store small accessories or tools. These can be convenient for keeping utensils in an easy-to-reach spot, but since most babies using a high chair can already crawl, make sure you don't leave any dangerous objects within reach.
Baby high chairs all have backrests of differing heights. We recommend looking for ones that are at least 12 inches high. We placed a baby doll based on the size of a one-year-old child in each chair and found that backrests 12 inches or taller could provide support all the way up to the head.
Baby high chairs with shorter backrests can't support your child's head and make it easier for their upper body to sway around and lose balance. In order to create a space where your child can focus on eating properly, look for a model with a relatively tall backrest.
Having a seat made from material that isn't overly smooth helps to keep your baby in place while sitting. Through our tests, we found that seats made from EVA resin or vinyl were less likely to allow for sliding around. This ensures your child can sit in place with correct posture for mealtime, which is ideal for when they're just starting to eat solid foods.
Baby high chairs with plastic or wooden seats, however, allowed for some sliding. If your child can't sit up straight, they won't be able to focus on eating, so we highly recommend choosing one with a seat made from material that's not too slippery.
Considering you'll be using it every day, you should look for a baby high chair that takes ease of use for parents into account as well. Ones that are easy to place your child in can lighten the load of child-rearing. One thing that affects placing your child in their seat is the spaces their legs go through. Specifically, you should check the distance from the backrest to the table, and the distance from the seat to the bottom of the table.
If there's enough space, your child's feet won't get caught when placing them down. But if the opening is too narrow, their feet can get caught and make it a hassle to get them in. These measurements are hard to take before actually buying one, so check the Ease of Loading and Unloading scores in our ranking if it's important to you.
Babies grow quickly, so it's best to look for a baby high chair that can be used for as long as possible. We suggest models with adjustable seat and footrest heights because they allow you to match them to your baby's growth. Baby high chairs with a higher weight limit can be used for longer and won't be outgrown by your baby as quickly.
As children are bound to drop their food or knock over their bowl sometimes, baby high chairs become dirty quickly. Considering you'll need to clean it frequently, you'll want to choose one that's as easy to clean as possible. If you don't look closely, most tables and seats on baby high chairs all look the same, but whether or not there are grooves in them will make a big difference when it comes to cleaning.
Tables and seats with smooth surfaces ensure that you can simply wipe spilled food off them in a single stroke. But if they have grooves, food and dirt can get stuck inside them, which is quite a chore to clean. Once they're done eating, children usually want to be let out of their seat immediately. It's hard to make time for cleaning with a child of this age, so try to choose a baby high chair with no grooves in the table and seat.
Even tables and seats with grooves will stay clean if you wipe them off immediately every time you use them, but over time it's common for dirt and grime to build up. In our home, we have a baby high chair with one long groove along the seat. After a year and a half, things have tended to get stuck in it, and the dirt is hard to ignore. Having no grooves at all makes it much easier to wipe off and keep clean.
The tray table is the part that will get dirty most often, so it's particularly helpful if the table is easy to clean. Ones that come with a separate removable tray make cleanup a breeze. Even if your baby high chair doesn't have a separate removable tray, you can always remove the whole table and carry it to the kitchen for cleaning. But if it gets really dirty, it's easy to accidentally spill food onto the floor, and now you've got double the work. Choose one with a removable tray to keep cleaning time to a minimum.

The Beyond Junior Y High Chair by Abiie uses wood for the body, has cushions on both the seat and backrest, and comes in a large number of color variations. This high chair uses a 5-point safety belt to hold your child safely in place. It also has a crotch guard to lower the chance of falling out. When testing it for stability, we found that the non-slip material on the bottom was strong enough to keep it from slipping and the distance between the legs was wide enough to make for a steady hold.
The space for loading in a baby isn't as wide as we would have preferred, and it was easy for their feet to get caught on the way in. Thankfully, the tray table can be moved forward and backward, and on top of that, the cushion used for the backrest and seat is made of non-slippery material which keeps your child in a good posture to stay focused on eating. The seat can be adjusted in four increments, while the footrest has five levels, so you can set their positioning to match your own child's growth. And with a weight limit of 200 pounds, it won't become obsolete as your child gets bigger.
While there are some shallow grooves on both the tray table and seat, the coated wood won't stain. The table also comes with a separate removable tray to easily carry spilled food to the kitchen. People considering buying a baby high chair to help with weaning should make this one their highest priority for its consideration for safety and ease of feeding.

By adjusting the length of the legs, Skip Hop's EON 4-in-1 High Chair can either be placed on the ground or set on top of a normal chair, making it a versatile product. It uses a 5-point safety belt to keep your child in place and also has a crotch guard to prevent accidental falls when they move around unexpectedly. The non-slip material on the bottom did a good job of preventing the chair from slipping around and led to high scores for stability.
It's particularly easy to load and unload your child into, thanks to having plenty of room for their legs to pass through. The tray table it comes with is quite large, and the backrest is also notably tall, which ensures that your child can stay focused on eating. One downfall, however, is that neither the seat nor footrest can be adjusted, and it can only hold 33 pounds, so it can't be used for long as your baby grows.
We found this baby high chair to be extremely easy to clean. There are no grooves at all in either the seat or tray table that would let dirt or bits of food build up. It's made from material that doesn't let liquid seep in or cause stains, which also helps to keep it looking clean. We can recommend this product for its sufficient safety features, as well as its ease of cleaning and simple maintenance.

Lalo's simply named The Chair has adjustable legs so that you can use it in a variety of situations, and it comes in a wide range of color variants. This high chair uses a 5-point safety belt to secure your child's shoulders, legs, and crotch firmly in place. It also has a crotch guard so that you won't have to worry about them accidentally falling forward. When testing it on stability, we found that the non-slip material on the legs was strong enough to prevent it from sliding around.
The space for loading in a child is sufficiently wide, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting your child seated. But the backrest is on the shorter side, which could result in bad posture. Although the footrest height can be adjusted between two levels, the seat height can't be adjusted at all. It has a 30 pound maximum weight limit, which might not be enough to use over a long time once your baby starts to grow.
We found this high chair extremely easy to clean thanks to a complete lack of grooves in both the seat and tray table. Considering that it's built with safety in mind and excels in stability, it's an excellent choice for people who plan to use their baby high chair on a wooden floor.

Longtime bestseller Tripp Trapp by Stokke is a sturdy baby high chair made from wood that offers many color variations. It comes with a 5-point safety belt which secures your child's shoulders, legs, and groin for a secure, sturdy hold. It also has a crotch guard to make sure they don't accidentally slip out. In terms of stability, even though it doesn't use non-slip material on the bottom, the legs are spread out to ensure it won't shake or tip.
There's plenty of room for sliding your child's legs in, making for smooth, uninhibited loading and unloading. Unfortunately, the material used for the seat is rather slippery, and the backrest isn't the ideal height for helping a baby to maintain good posture. Adding to the trouble is that the tray table is sold separately, so you'll need to factor that in to the cost.
The seat can be adjusted to five different height levels and the footrest has 10, meaning you can easily match their position to your child's current stage of growth. And with a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds, you'll definitely be able to use it over the years. One small downside is that there are two short grooves in the seat in which dirt can build up easily. It will turn into a big chore to clean if you put it off for long, so you'll need to clean frequently to keep it sanitary.

The Slim Snacker Highchair by Graco Children's Products can be folded up using only one hand. It has a mesh basket underneath the seat to store utensils and other small items. This high chair uses a 5-point safety belt to keep your child firmly in place, so there's no need to worry about them falling out when you're not looking. This one doesn't have a crotch guard, so you'll need to make sure your child doesn't fall forward when you remove the table. Although it doesn't use non-slip material on the bottom, the legs are spread apart enough to keep it steady with no wobbling.
In addition to having a sufficiently large table, the backrest is tall enough to keep your child in an upright posture, so they can focus on their food. In contrast to this, the area to slide their feet through is on the small side, which can become a hassle when loading and unloading your child as their feet can easily get caught.
The maximum weight limit is only 40 pounds, and neither the seat nor footrest can be adjusted, meaning it can't be positioned to use over extended periods as your child gets bigger. The tray table is easy to wipe off, with no grooves at all, but the seat does have grooves where food and dirt can get stuck, requiring more effort on your part to keep it clean.

Evenflo Company's Eat & Grow 4-Mode High Chair has four position modes to match your child's stage of growth. When used as a baby high chair, it has a space to store utensils underneath the seat. This chair uses a 5-point safety belt to ensure that your child stays firmly in place, and there's little worry of them breaking free. However, there isn't a crotch guard, so you'll need to make sure they don't fall forward when the tray table is removed.
We felt that even without non-slip material on the bottom, it held steady enough thanks to the wide spacing of the legs. The backrest is tall enough that your child won't likely lose their posture or get distracted from their food. But there isn't as much space to slide your child's legs in as we would prefer, and the high likelihood of their legs or other body parts getting stuck on the way in made us feel like it would become stressful.
Although it has a reasonably high weight limit of 50 pounds, the seat height can't be adjusted, and there isn't a footrest at all, making it difficult to match the chair's position with your child's stage of growth.Thankfully, there are no grooves in the seat or tray table for food to get stuck in, which makes your job easy when it's time to clean up.

Cosco's Simple Fold High Chair, as the name suggests, is compact when folded so that you can easily load it into your car when you want to use it away from home. This chair comes with a 3-point safety belt, leaving your child's upper half loose to lean forward and, in the worst case, break free. But thankfully it has a crotch guard that should prevent any falls. In our tests on stability, we found that the lack of any non-slip material on the bottom resulted in frequent sliding. People who have smooth flooring in their dining area should probably steer clear of this one since it's likely to slide around every time your child moves.
There's plenty of space for your child's legs to slide in, so you shouldn't have any trouble while loading or unloading. The included tray table is large, and the backrest is quite tall, to ensure that your child keeps good posture while seated and stays focused on their food. With a maximum weight limit of 50 pounds, it has a relatively long lifespan, but neither the seat nor the footrest can be adjusted, making it difficult to match to your child's growth over time. The tray table has no grooves that would impede cleaning, but unfortunately there are grooves in the seat where food can get caught, which adds to the amount of time and effort needed for cleanup.

Maxi-cosi's Minla 6-in-1 High Chair has wheels on the legs, so you can move it around effortlessly. It's also foldable for easy storage. The included 5-point safety belt secures your child in place and prevents any accidental falls. It doesn't have a crotch guard, though, so you'll need to be cautious while the table is removed. When we tested it for stability, we found that it didn't grip the floor well, and even with the wheels locked it still slipped around. It won't work well for people with smooth flooring in their home. The space to slide your child's legs in is just a bit narrow, making it easy for their feet to get caught when placing them in or lifting them out.
On the other hand, the table is large, and the backrest is tall enough to keep your child seated upright and focused on the food in front of them. The seat can be adjusted to one of five increments, while the footrest has two selectable heights, so it has the customization options to keep up with your child's growth. And with a weight limit of 50 pounds, it will continue to serve its purpose over time. There are no grooves in the table, and it comes with a detachable tray to help with cleanup. But the seat has some grooves in which food can easily get caught, and since it's made from cloth, spilled liquid will result in stains.

Stokke's Clikk High Chair requires no tools to assemble and is lightweight for easy transport. This high chair uses a 5-point safety belt that secures your child's shoulders, legs, and groin to keep them securely in place, and there's little chance of them wriggling free. But it doesn't have a crotch guard, so you'll need to watch out when the tray table is removed. We found that the lack of non-slip material on the bottom resulted in it sliding around frequently. People with wooden flooring at home should keep that in mind when making a decision.
The space where your child's feet slide in is reasonably wide, so loading and unloading should be no problem. But the combination of the slippery material used for the seat and the low backrest can easily result in poor posture. The footrest has two selectable heights, but the seat height can't be adjusted at all. And the weight limit is only 33 pounds, so it isn't geared toward prolonged use as your baby gets bigger. It did, however, receive excellent scores for ease of cleaning. There are no grooves on either the table or the seat for stray food pieces to get trapped. Removing and reattaching the tray table is stress-free, so there's no hassle when you do need to wipe it down.

IKEA's Antilop is a baby high chair in an affordable price range. The legs can be easily removed for quick assembly and disassembly and convenient storage. This high chair opts for a 3-point safety belt, which leaves your baby's upper body unsecured, making it easy for them to fall forward and could also allow escape attempts. Thankfully, there is a crotch guard that lowers the possibility of them falling off the chair.
When we checked it for stability, we discovered that the legs aren't spaced widely apart, and it doesn't use non-slip material on the bottom, with the result being that it shook and slipped often. People with smooth flooring in their home in particular should be warned. Setting your child in place won't be any trouble thanks to the wide area for sliding their legs in. And even though the seat is made from rather slippery material, the backrest is tall enough to prevent your child's posture from slipping.
But with a weight limit of just 33 pounds, it isn't made to be used over long periods. It doesn't have a footrest, and there aren't any adjustable parts to match the structure with your child's stage of growth over time. On the bright side, there aren't any grooves in either the table or the seat, allowing you to wipe off dirt in a single swipe, so it will appeal to people looking for a high chair that's easy to care for.
